Caldari Independent Navy Reserve Recruitment and Training Policies
Compiled by CAPT Svetlana Scarlet, Chief of Diplomatic Staff
The Caldari Independent Navy Reserve is a Caldari loyalist paramilitary corporation; this means that the vast majority of our our operations are focus on pod pilot combat, with our other activities generally only existing to support those combat operations. Our pilots are highly acclaimed by friend and foe alike and we're always looking to add to our roster.
What does the Reserve have to offer you?
We are a PvP-focused roleplaying corporation with over 4 years of history in Eve, during which we have fought on numerous battlegrounds -- empire wars, anti-pirate operations in lowsec, and holding our own against 0.0 alliances -- and built a reputation for being some of the best combat pilots around. More substantially though, we offer:
- Ships built at cost for members, a pool of modules for free use and a series of internal contracts for more expensive items.
- A private killboard and Ventrilo server (secured to prevent intelligence from falling into the hands of our enemies).
- Training programs for new or inexperienced members (see below).
- Some of the best fleet commanders outside the major alliances, with experience in all types of warfare.
- A commitment to supporting both light and "heavy" roleplayers, and a keen interest in the game's backstory -- that doesn't get in the way of our PvP focus.
If this sounds like it might be the place for you, please read the recruitment guidelines below.
Section 1: Recruitment
Recruitment into the Reserve is open to Caldari citizens of Civire, Deteis, or Achura decent, in good standing with both the State and the Caldari Navy, and with at least one month of flight time. In addition, the following requirements must be met:
-
Recruits must have a minimum of 2.00 standing with the Caldari Navy (not including bonuses provided by the Connections skill). This is to make sure that you're willing to put in some time with the Navy and ensure that our corporate standing with them remains high.
-
Recruits must be sponsored by a current member of the Reserve with a rank of Lieutenant or higher. This sponsor will be in charge of mentoring the new recruit and making sure he or she settles into the Reserve. It is the obligation of the recruit to find a sponsor; we suggest talking to Reserve members in CAINCOM and asking for one there.
-
Recruits must demonstrate a mature, professional demeanor with a team-oriented attitude, a willingness to follow the orders of their superiors, and a desire to contribute positively to the overall good of the corporation. The Reserve is a team, and many of our members have been around with us for years. We want people who can become part of that team and stick around. If that's you, we're glad to have you.
-
Recruits must be financially self-sufficient through some means. Most of our members run missions or patrol belts for CONCORD bounties during low activity periods to fund our combat operations. The Reserve also sells ships at cost and provides a storehouse of modules for pilots to use in order to reduce costs.
-
Recruits must be willing to relocate to Reserve bases of operation in the State and elsewhere. Part of being in the Reserve is flying on combat operations with the Reserve; you can't do that if you're 20 jumps away in another region. The Reserve will be happy to provide transport assets for you to help move you to our bases if at all possible.
Applications to the corporation may be denied based on past history working with anti-State forces or criminal elements; these denials are at the discretion of the recruitment and command staff of the Reserve. To place your application, please make an introductory post in the Recruitment Enquiries section of our forums, which you can find at http://fourthdistrict.net/forums and monitor our public channel, CAINCOM. A recruiter will contact you for an interview as soon as possible.
The Reserve will accept no more than eight new recruits per month, and this will not necessarily be first-come, first-serve. Most of the time this is not a problem; however, during high recruitment periods (such as during and after tournaments), we may delay your application. You will be notified if this is the case.
Section 2: Midshipmen and Probation
Following the acceptance of their application to join the Reserve, recruits will receive the rank of Midshipman and be made probationary members of the corporation. Probation will last until the recruit is considered to have proven him or herself to the corporation as a valued member; generally this won't take longer than a month, especially if you are active. There are a number of things you can do to speed up your promotion to Lieutenant JG:
-
Participation combat patrols. The Reserve runs combat patrols fairly regularly, whether part of a CONCORD-sanctioned war or as an anti-pirate effort in low- and nullsec space. Flying with Reserve pilots during these will raise your visibility within the corporation, get you much needed combat practice, and show our pilots what you bring to the Reserve.
-
Be active in the corporation communications channels. Being available for combat operations is good, but it's also good for our pilots to get to know you outside of combat operations. Participate in discussions in corporate channels and help us get to know you. Don't be afraid to ask questions or offer suggestions. Just because you're new doesn't mean your opinions aren't valued.
- Successful completion of the scanning certification course (see Training, below).
- Successful completion of the pod evacuation certification course (see Training, below).
- Successful completion of the bookmark certification course (see Training, below).
- Successful completion of the fleet movement certification course (see Training, below).
Upon promotion to Lieutenant JG, new recruits get several new privileges, including access to a larger (and generally better) pool of modules for combat ships. New recruits who aren't active, or who aren't making progress towards being a productive member of the corporation, will be removed from the corporation during regular roster checks (usually once every 2-3 months). However, if you are forced to take an extended leave for planetside reasons, please let us know and we'll be happy to make allowances.
Section 3: Training
While not all new pilots will need it, the Reserve offers a number of training courses for new recruits (and older pilots that need a refresher). If you're interested in taking one of the courses (and we highly recommend doing so, especially for pilots who are fresh out of the academy), please talk to your sponsor or a member of the recruitment or command staff and we will be happy to help you out.
